This course introduces key concepts of parenting styles. These include classic models, such as the authoritative, authoritarian, permissive and neglectful styles, as well as more recent differentiations. In addition, their significance to child development in the areas of attachment, autonomy, conduct and mental health is discussed. Special attention is paid to the opportunities and risks associated with different parenting styles and their practical relevance in everyday educational and family life. The aim is to promote a theoretical understanding of key parenting models and to highlight the importance of their application in the practical fields of child and youth welfare.
