Childhood phobic disorder belongs to the category of childhood emotional disorders and is characterized by a persistent and excessive fear of certain situations, animals or objects, which is accompanied by significant impairments in various areas of life (e.g. school, leisure, social contacts). In this course, the theoretical background for a better understanding of the disorder (e.g. characteristics, causes and perpetuating factors) will first be presented. In the second part of the course, tried-and-tested recommendations for dealing successfully with affected children and young people in the context of school support are provided.
