School Support Assistance • Courses for physical and mental disabilities
Type 1 diabetes mellitus (short form: Type 1 diabetes) is the most common metabolic disease in children and adolescents. Dealing with the disease poses a variety of challenges for affected children and adolescents as well as their relatives and other people giving assistance. These include, for example, regular blood glucose checks, the correct administration of the hormone insulin and the correct handling of all diabetes-related equipment. In this course, the theoretical background for a basic understanding of the disease is taught first. In the practical part that follows, a variety of practice-oriented aids are presented to enable optimal support for children and young people with Type 1 diabetes in everyday school life.
